Actual for October 2026

Pitsuim (פיצויי פיטורין) - compensation upon dismissal. The right to it does not depend on citizenship: it is also applicable to foreign workers.

This is not legal advice. Below are general rules; in your case much depends on the contract and industry agreement.

How much

According to the law - one monthly salary for each year worked with one employer. The full right to pitzuim arises after a year of work. In practice, the employer every month puts aside part of the salary (usually 6%, sometimes 8.33%) to a pension fund or to a special account - this is future compensation.

When placed

  • Dismissal at the initiative of the employer after a year of work is a complete pitsuim.
  • They left on their own - as a general rule, full pitzuim is not due, but money that the employer already transferred to the pension fund for your compensation, usually remain yours. There are cases when leaving at one's own request is equivalent to dismissal: for example, a significant deterioration in conditions, moving, care for health reasons.
  • Foreign workers in a number of industries: the employer is obliged to transfer monthly deductions to a separate account in the name of the employee; money is paid upon leaving the country.
  • Metapelet (elderly care): the same rules apply, contributions are made by the employer or agency.

How to get it

  1. Check in tlush whether there are monthly contributions to pensions and compensation.
  2. When dismissing, request a letter of dismissal and payment.
  3. If contributions went to a pension fund, contact the fund with a letter of resignation.
  4. If the employer does not pay, save the records, contract and correspondence and contact a labor lawyer or a free organization for the protection of workers' rights.
