If you find a job, the next question is always housing. Many employers provide it themselves, but if not, you'll have to look for it. Let's figure out what the options are and what to look for.
Three main options
| Option | Who is it suitable for | What is important |
|---|---|---|
| Bed space | First weeks, savings on everything | Several people in a room. Check how many neighbors there are and whether there is space for things |
| A room in an apartment with neighbors (shutafim) | For those who stay for a long time | Shared kitchen and bathroom. Ask who lives in the apartment and how bills are divided |
| Separate apartment | Couples, families, long-term | Most often a contract for a year, deposit and guarantees |
Prices greatly depend on the city: in Tel Aviv and the center they are noticeably higher than in Haifa and Beersheba or on the periphery. See the latest announcements in your city in the section rental housing - you can see the real numbers right now.
What is usually included in the price
Check before the meeting whether the following is included in the amount:
- arnona - municipal housing tax;
- water and electricity - in the summer, due to air conditioning, the electricity bill can be high;
- vaad bayt - fee for house maintenance;
- Internet.
"1 200 шекелей plus utilities 300" and "1,500 all inclusive" - the same price, but the second easier to plan.
How to choose a place
- Road to work. Is there a ride from the employer and where does it pick up from? If not, how long to take the bus per shift, especially early in the morning.
- Transport on Shabbat. From Friday evening to Saturday evening there are almost no buses - keep this in mind if you work on weekends.
- Shops and area. Look at the street on the map, or better yet, in person.
Where to look in Russian
Ads are scattered across city Telegram channels and message boards. In the section "Housing" we collect them in one place: you can filter by city, type and price, and each card leads to the original. If you have already found a job through IsraWork, on the page vacancies have a link to housing in the same city.
