How to register with the health insurance fund and change your kupat holim
Every resident of Israel is required to be registered with one of the health insurance funds - kupat holim - under the National Health Insurance Law. You choose the cashier yourself. The cash desk is obliged to accept you - regardless of age and health.
Who should register
A resident of Israel who is not yet a member of any box office
New repatriate - within 3 months after arrival
Demobilized soldier, if for some reason membership is not automatically reinstated
Registration of children
The newborn is automatically enrolled in the cash register of the parent who receives child benefit. If parents want to choose the second parent's cash desk, they need to complete a transfer. Registration of a child up to 6 months occurs without a waiting period.
Youth from 18 years old
Within 6 months after your 18th birthday, you can freely choose another cashier. The transition occurs without a waiting period. If the application is not submitted, the person remains in the same cash register.
How to register for kupat holim
There are three ways:
Through the Bituach Leumi website - free of charge. A personal Israeli credit card is required for identification.
Through the post office - a paid service.
In the Bituach Leumi department - if you need to confirm the status of a resident, restore it, or more than 90 days have passed since a special event (repatriation, demobilization, etc.).
After registration, you need to contact the selected health insurance fund to complete the registration and receive the card.
Is it possible to change the cash register? Yes. If you have been a member of the cash register for at least 6 months, you can switch to another one. The employer does not have the right to require registration in a certain cash register.
