Hotels in Eilat, the Dead Sea, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem constantly need housekeepers, stewards, kitchen staff and laundry workers, and resort chains often provide staff housing. Israel's Major Hotel Chains
Most hotel vacancies in Israel are concentrated in a few large chains:
- Isrotel — more than twenty hotels, most of them in Eilat and at the Dead Sea: Royal Garden, King Solomon, Yam Suf, Dead Sea and others. Each chain has a \"drushim\" (vacancies) section on its website — usually in Hebrew. That is fine for those already settled in the country, but a barrier for newcomers: filling in the form and passing an interview without the language is hard.
Positions Available Without Hebrew
The good news: most entry-level hotel positions do not require fluent Hebrew. Basic phrases and a willingness to work with your hands are enough:
- Housekeeper — room cleaning, the most common position;
- Steward / dishwasher — washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen;
- Kitchen helper — prep work, chopping, assisting the cooks;
- Laundry worker — washing and ironing linen;
- Public area cleaner — lobby, corridors, grounds.
Where Language Is a Must
Reception, guest-facing roles and waiting tables in upscale restaurants require Hebrew and often English. If you do not have the language yet, start in housekeeping or the kitchen: it is realistic to move up within the hotel once your Hebrew improves.
Seasonality: Why Eilat Works Year-Round
In most countries hotel work is seasonal, but Eilat is an exception. It is a year-round resort: in winter Israelis and European tourists come for the warmth, in summer people come for the Red Sea. Conditions vary, so always clarify before starting: where the housing is, how many people share a room and what is deducted from your pay.
Tips and Extra Pay
Tips in hotels are a nice but unstable bonus: housekeepers sometimes find money left in rooms, waiters and porters get more, dishwashers and laundry staff almost nothing. Count on your base pay first and treat tips as a bonus.
